That's true Pete but the birch didn't give me any warning like a last meal, 
offer a blindfold, a last word, nothing.

Hmmm, thinking about last words and facing a firing squad is forcing me to 
change my mental image of the firing squad. My firing squad is now a bunch 
of shapely gals loading a kiln. I guess that'd mean I wouldn't be sticking 
my toungue out, it'd be hanging naturally.
