There're a couple ways to get borax into the cable. First is unwind it a 
little to open the spaces between the threads. The second is dissolve the 
borax in warm water and dip the cable. If you bring the cable to above 
boiling temp it'll suck the solution in like crazy as it cools.

I like 1pt Boric acid to 3-4 pts borax as a flux. I don't know why but it 
seems a little more effective but that might just be me.
