[TheForge] Forge welding cable

[FireWorks PDX]

I have a length of bright steel cable (1-1/2" diameter) that I want to forge weld into a solid base for a sculpture. I'm using Z-weld flux. My first attempt failed, I think due to a lack of heat, but I dunno. Maybe I'm not getting flux in between the threads? Any advice? I'm going to check through Zoeller's site, too, but I figured sending it out to y'all might help.
