A weedburner or two will work just fine, especially if the work is
surrounded by an insulating refractory. I'd make a wire or screen frame and
hang Kaowool or other ceramic wool refractory from it. With a wire or screen
frame the Kaowool can be shaped to suit the piece as it's form changes. The
Kaowool etc. shell and frame would also be light enough to be easily handled
so it'd be a simple matter to lift the "forge" off the piece being heated
for ease and speed.
