Here's a good web project for somebody who has scripting and database
access to his/her/a web site.
Invite people to submit descriptions of cool ironwork around the
continent, including street address and/or, if possible, lat/long. [1]
Database the descriptions and script a link to Google maps.
A viewer sould then ask for a list of work in a given city and each
item on the list would link to the description and display a map
showing it's location.
Just a thought.

[1] The more precise, the better. A place such as Yale might have one
street address for the whole campus. Doesn't everybody carry a
cell phone with the capacity to give your present lat/long
location to three figures these days? :-)
