Thanks everybody.
I love it when you all encourage me to do what I was going to do anyway!
Yeah, 3/16 TS, not a lot of heavy sustained welding, just a couple of  
beads and then a bunch of fitting in between.
The electrician set up a 50A circuit and labeled it "Welder" since there's  
a lot of steel fab at this house, but the receptacle is like a regular 15a  
110 on steroids, which I call a dryer plug though it may not be...50a at  
any rate.
Found a chart which stated 2% voltage drop at 100' for this combo, so that  
doesn't sound too bad.
