Using a rosebud with Propane is fine, but please go by the recommended pressure settings. If you starve the gas you will wind up burning the head up on your rosebud.
I know you said that you did not want to go to another fuel, but if you should decide to look at other fuels, take a look at Propylene (HPG), you will be amazed at the heat and work that is accomplished so quickly.

The victor 100 is a very common torch and you run a good chance of
finding a compatible rosebud as an after market product, at a swapmeet,
tailgate sale, ebay etc for a modest price. That's how i got my 3.
It's a valuable and versatile tool to have.
