I thought Federal law limited exposure to $50 if a credit card # was
stolen....

The real problem is that it is more cost effective for the credit card
companies to pretty much ignore the problem, deal with it when it occurs,
and ask card owners to take on additional debt/insurance for safety. We
sued one fella. It cost more to sue (kept changing jobs he did ) than it
was worth in total, so the insurance company just finally said no more. So
the bottom line is that until someone writes a law that a person will be
charged for the cost of the crime, AND the cost of his capture, and possibly
the legal bills, this will not change.

Why are there speed traps on certain parts of the expressway? Because they
expect to catch speeders who can actually afford to pay the fines. There is
no positive aspect of fining someone who can't afford to pay. It costs the
system too much.

Similar thing, I called on the sister's boyfriend. He amassed over 80k in
debt in the year that he was with her (as well as sucking her dry). When I
called one of the companies that he owed it to, they said that if he is
locked up, he can't pay. So their only effort was to send additional
dunning letters.

Good luck.

All the best.

hello;

given the current thread concerning identity theft and credit reports it
is important to remember that even if you do everything correctly, have
a great credit score and all that can change in a blink of an eye if you
are involved in an accident that is not even your fault.
