Then i'll have to reveal my blacksmiths hillside fencing secret weapon.
I picked up a very used 30# pneumatic rock drill and cut the working end
off a broken bit and welded on a home made socket instead. The socket
fits over the pipe or angle iron i want to drive. Then i took my HD
commercial garden hoses and made conversions so that they can tap the
air tank for the compressor. That gives me good reach at a decent volume
of air.
I fit the socket into the pneumatic drill and over the end of the pipe
or rod to be driven..push it upright, then get up above it ( ladder or a
tractor bucket) and use the pneumatic hammer to drive the pipe. It's
loud and funky, but quicker and cheaper than anything else at my
disposal. It'll drive bed frame stakes through softer rocks no problem. pf
