My biggest concrete drill bit is 1 1/2. If I use that one on a 45
degree angle the 2x4 is just big enough to not allow the bit to wable.
But the 2x4 dosent last to long. If you core drill them you will get
about 8 to 10 angled holes before a pine 2x4 will start to oblong. I
use oak boards and they last a lot longer. But practice makes perfect.
Using the boards as a guide, you can use a smaller hole, be more exact
in your placement, and use less rockite.
