Folks:  Regarding grants, they seem to be given out under the rubric of
education, community service or heritage related activities.  I'm no expert,
but it is my understanding that HUGE amounts of money go unclaimed yearly
because no one knows of the particular grants and none apply for the funds.

I think there are lists of grants that are compiled, but I don't know how
they are listed.

Regarding insurance for blacksmithing activities, most educational
institutions are self-insured.  For my classes, I use a hold-harmless
agreement which has passed judicial scrutiny.  California broadly recognizes
assumption of risk, other states may differ.

I'd be interested in hearing other folks experiences in these areas
