I agree most LG are at least 75 years od.
Sid at LG will tell you who and where it was sold by the serial number.
Unless it has been through a rebuild most likely the pins are warn the
babbit in the clutch could be bad.
Depending on if there are anly shims left in the crank bearings the main
bearings may need repouring
In the original post I think you are talking about the wrap around guide
which also could be warn uneaven besides the poor rebuild. Ussually the
dies get too short and the arms hit the guide or a piece was cut out both
sides for clearance.
The dove tails could be bad
The dies could be welded in
A rebuild isnt that technical but takes time.
Sid has a rebuild class that takes less than 3 days to do.
Or it could be an excellent hammer just waiting for a new home

If spending that much money depending where ou live I would contact Clay
Spencer and see about buying one of his tire hammers for $2000 with a motor
already and the hammer ready to plug in and pound away.

With that said I would probably sell a 25 for near that money or a 50 for a
little more.
I live in Southern MN
