[TheForge] band saws

Yes we have the "quick" model at work and I have one in my personal shop.
We only use them with the cut off wheel and not as a grinder.
We are using it in a professional "work" mode so it gets used a lot more
than many guys will
use one in there own shops. It gets used many times in place of another tool
that might do the same job,
such as the band saw, ironworker, shear or nibbler. That is what started
this thread, using a
Metabo rather than a porta-band saw.
As for regular grinding (which we also do a lot of) we use mostly DeWalt
4-1/2" grinders
with paddle switches. We have worn out Bosch, Black & Decker and Harbor
Freight type
grinders in no time. I am talking about weeks.
Even with the DeWalt grinders, when they break, if the repair is anything
more than replacing
the brushes, it cost nearly as much to repair as it would cost to buy a new
one.
