One other thing - Right here in Jerry's words lie the thinly veiled
problems with notions such as "government" and "law" in the American
mind (as well as many others who live "democratically"). If we assume
that we are all equal as living beings (not accounting for differences
in physical and mental faculties, but just as "souls" for lack of a
better term), then whose place is it to allow or disallow much of
anything? Here the ideal comes into some conflict with the practical,
we all know - but that conflict is actually VERY tiny. It has become
large because people have made it that way. The problem resides nowhere
else but between peoples' ears.

Once accepted, "equality" directly leads to rights such as those to
preserve one's life or that of another. Such a right directly leads to
the right to the MEANS of doing so, and therefore there is NO legitimate
basis for denying anyone the right to the means of defense. None.
Zero. Nada. Zilch. Tween. Zip. Nichts. Semmi. Nyichevo.
