Calif has a medical pot law and i legally grew a few plants here in the
chaparral on the cliff face years ago.
On the anniversary of 9-11, the day they had a nationwide "orange
alert". Here, on the property farthest from the county seat, the entire
Monterey county swat team showed up in the front yard with automatic
weapons, in full combat gear.
I had my documentation in order they agreed, asked to see the plants..I
showed them...they complemented me on the job i'd done and cut them all
down and loaded them up in their truck. One of the guys cut several buds
with his leatherman and put them in his pocket while looking me in the
eye. Everybody was very polite.
They pointed out that it was still a fed crime and i could fight it if i
wanted to, but they'd just turn it over to the feds. Said they'd let me
know if they were going to charge me, and drove away. On request i
provided my extensive medical documentation...cancer survivor, screwed
up back, history of depression, etc, etc.
A couple of months later i got a letter saying they weren't going to
prosecute but that the green pot had deteriorated in the evidence locker
and they'd tossed it. Things being what they are, it was probably sold
out the back door.
When i was younger, i would have fought it out to the end. Perhaps i'm a
bit closer to grown up now.
Northern Calif's biggest $ crop has been pot for quite a while, since
the fisherys deteriorated so badly and the timber industry went with
it...or more properly, visa-versa...pf
