When I went to look at the Deutz F3L 912 for my big hammer, I found a
bunch of enthusiastic, apparently happy employees in a tidy, clean and
well-equipped shop.  That helped sway my decision.  The good
impression wasn't erased by finding numerous peripheral details that
needed repair.  The engine itself shows no sign of abuse.

As an aside, the 3-cylinder diesel is rated for 47HP, roughly twice
what a 4-cylinder gas engine of the same physical size puts out.  So
the diesel doesn't even break a sweat under a load that had the gas
engine dropping in the traces.
