Machinery's Handbook,  look under ACME threads in the index.  Three wire 
gauge method with a quality mic.  You can use drill bits in place of 3 wire 
gauges.  The 3 wire method is listed in the index under "Threads -checking 
by three-wire method, tables, etc."
