I didn't know about this.  A quick google reveals people willing to
sell fittings designed for the purpose but I don't see anything on how
you actually *do* it.  There's a nice PDF  that explains how to prep
the end of the rope and what *not* to do (such as inserting a nail to
snug up the fit) but nothing about managing and pouring the  molten
zinc.

So, Steve, do you have a pointer to something on the web that shows
how to do it?  Or some further details on how you do it?  "Just melt
some zinc in a ladle and pour it in" sounds too easy. :-)
