Mark:
I have two atmospheric gas forges from NC Tool: the Whisper Baby and Whisper Daddy. Both have provided nearly 20 years of service (since 1990) with no problems. I relined the Baby once in 2004. I have not forge welded with them although they claim it can be done (I use a coal forge for welding). I have looked at the Chileforges and they seem impressive. I've had no experience with any forced-air gas forges.

Subject: [TheForge] Shopping for Forges
I'm thinking about buying a new and shiny gas forge for my shop,
because the one I built has never worked as well as it should. It's
certainly not hot enough to forge weld. Hell, I could put a piece of
steel in there for 45 minutes and it wouldn't burn up. And it takes 25
minutes to heat up, but cools off to black in 2. So, does anyone out
there have recommendations on a reliable and hot gas forge to
purchase? I've been looking at Chileforge.com.
Thanks,
Mark
