[TheForge] Blacksmith's Holiday

BTW, they are getting ready to do a major addition and renovation to the b/s shop next year. The design drawings look great. The frame will all be done by the timber framers guild, so it should be very cool. It will include a clean space for a library and meeting room as well as more shop space.

On my drive to Brasstown from Oklahoma, I stopped off at the National Metals Museum in Memphis. They had a beginner blacksmith class going at the time, so I dropped in and visited with the instructor for a few minutes.

I did that many years back and it was the best vacation I ever gave myself.
Great food, super accommodations, fantastic forging and wonderful people --
plus perfect weather. AND...it is dirt cheap. Do yourselves a favor: check
out the John Campbell School (www.folkschool.org) and go for a week.
Awesome.

I'm a hobby smith also, but the b-smith shop is pro-ready.
