My father had a costume jewelry company years ago. They'd come out with
a new line 2 times a year. Within a month several other American
companies would knock off the most popular pieces and put out cheap,
cheezy imitations.
They spent huge amounts on copyright suits and won...but lost $ and
business. It was one of the main factors that drove them out of business
after 30 some years...pf

Steal the designs and ideas of other people, and make them quicker, in bigger numbers, and far cheaper. Then flood the markets and get as much money as they can, even if some international law finally stops them from making them again. Then they change the product a bit to get around the law and go back to it. Funny thing is these are the same people that almost rioted when Wal-Marts new China stores brought in cheaper produce that was out competing their farmers.
