Printed-form report:

Chapter 7 of Dona Z. Meilach's "Decorative & Sculptural Ironwork:
Tools, Techniques & Inspiration" (2nd ed, here)
is "Carving Animals and Other Fantastic Forms" this book is among my
favorite handful on the shelf...

There is an older wide-format black-and-white book I saw in the NWBA
conference library, I found a snapshot of it in my photo album...
NWBA #B-60 if you're in the Pacific Northwest, it is titled "Iron
Menagerie" copyright 1991 Guild of Metalsmiths (a regional non-profit
in Minnesota)
I saw the Fourth Printing from Oct '95, printed by Norm Larson Books, Lompoc, CA
I thought this was a great book, and it has about 15 different heads
with step-by-step pictures and explanations for each (two are
duplicates: both simple and complex horse and duck...)

Also, if you have access to any of the great membership newsletters or
organizational magazines, you are likely to find a wealth of great
examples, each with its own fun flavor. :)

Best of luck,

Ben
