[TheForge] press, riveting, air hammer

Steve, that riveting is WAAY COOL.
I did a project a few years ago where I set something like 6000 1/4"
diameter stainless rivets, with a hydraulic press much like yours, but
we did em all cold.
I did set some bigger rivets, up to 1/2" diameter, cold, but in brass
and copper, not steel.
My press currently only has a 30 ton ram on it, but my pump will run
bigger cylinders if I need em.
Is yours a dual acting cylinder?
I went with a dual acting 30 ton for hot presswork, as I figured the
weight of my various tooling would make a single acting cylinder work
too slow.
Not sure if it was really necessary or not, but thats what I did.
I also have an Enerpac "C" Clamp with a ten ton ram in it, about a ten
inch throat, that I have used to set rivets cold on jobsites. It might
be enough power to set bigger rivets hot- its more controllable, but
not as fast, as a pnuematic hammer.
