Make the dogs and send them out for heat treat. Tell them to draw to
RC35-37 - that will produce the toughest steel in 4140 and that will be
VERY tough. If HT isn't something you can do readily, pay someone to do
it well. It is worth the cost. It will cost you less in the end.
