	And bear in mind that the 3Rs were once the 4Rs.  The most important R, 
by FAR, was dropped.  Guess which one that was.  I know a few of the 
folks already know this, but most don't.

	!!!  I almost had a job at New Dorp back in 85.  There were still shops 
there in those days.

	NY state eagerly gutted their practical arts programs during 81-84 when 
they replaced industrial arts and home economics with "technology 
education", which is an utter and unmitigated sham.

	Oddly enough, certain schools like Brooklyn Tech have seen some 
backlash by reintroducing practical shop practices in some classes. 
Technology education sucks unwashed ass.  It isn't even a joke.

	Well, according to the folks who pushed teched, all the students would 
graduate as technical geniuses.  It hasn't happened.  It hasn't come close.
