Instead we barely teach the three R's and have closed most voc/tech 
programs in schools. I had shops in Jr. High, 6 - 9th grade and in High school.
My son now 17 and just graduated from HS has never been in one.
They don't even teach the computer engineering, although the computers are 
there and the kids are playing solitare.
