[TheForge] one time use crucible

I use to have a source for refractory I'll have to see if he is still around

SOMEWHERE I have Lindsay's book on making crucibles.  I glanced
through it when I bought it, but not since.  Let me know if you're
interested.  Not sure, but I suspect you could make a nice one from
(dense, not insulating) castable refractory.  Max outlay:  price of a
bag of the stuff at the local  boiler repair shop.  There are means of
formulating the stuff yourself if you have access to supplies.
