All of the wrought iron sashes should be sent to Robert Hensarling in
Uvalde, Texas. I'll be happy to store them for you :o)
BTW, a bladesmith up in Maine had some 100+ year old anchor chain. They are
about 8 inches long, and 5 wide, and 1.5" in diameter. The water and
weather has eroded a lot of the chain, revealing the neat striated patterns
that wrought gives off. I bought about 8 links from him, still intact with
each other. Indian George ( he rides an old Indian Motorcycle) said the
chain was from an old whaling ship. I forget right now exactly where he
lives, but it is or it was the whaling capital of the world according to IG.
I thought it was interesting history to go along with the chain. I just
haven't brought myself to cut any of it yet, but will eventually.
Back on the sashes, I never knew that they were anything other than cast
iron. I need to start opening my eyes more when I'm on a recon mission for
my shop.
