Andy ... same here in Ohio.  July is normally dry but we have had rain 5 of 7 days for almost every week of the last month.  They have talked about the jet stream being higher on the continent this year as being the reason.  

With all the screwy weather, the problems our forests are starting to have and that some animals only found two states south of here are moving north and into Ohio can't be ignored.  Our local farm paper is even predicting that cotton may be a viable crop in southern Ohio.  I also read that in the west where wheat was the best crop that corn is now being considered.

There are causes and effect ...

Wish I could send you some of these WV storms.  It has monsooned for the 
past 2 days after about 2 weeks of nearly incessant daily heavy-ish 
rain.  Creek is raging and everything is water-logged.
