We're still discussing copper versus zinc, but I guess
zinc has
anti-bacterial properties that are actually good for a
kitchen counter.

Bactericidal properties aside, beautiful patinas
aside, having engraved the softness of copper and
zinc, won't errant knives nick the surface with time,
and steel pots scratch both over time especially with
kids ? Have you considered the warmth of bamboo? i
think of resistance to breaking glass which rules out
concrete and soapstone for me.

By the way copper is pretty bactericidal too
regardless of the properties ascribed to zinc in cold
commercials.
