Though is simplistic have you just dropped the whole
thing onto pavement from different heights and
different angles. When they dropped my 250 lb hay
budden onto the driveway from the delivery truck
leaving the pallet on the truck it was unphased. The
unexpected strength of a lever arm that knocks things
off balance could be used to your advantage. As Mike
spoke of the vibration. the stuff in the swage is
bound with a webwork of brittle rust packed tight as
it is. its not a weld. the joys of inertia and
friction are always a challenge. differential heating
with such a mass is its own fun but i wonder if
circles around the stake with a torch to the swage
might expand its pocket, the rust insulating from the
stake. then drop it.
then, after all, there are the rock explosive charges
advertised on the Thomas Register, that require only a
5/16 inch hole , best not tried at home, though not
far from an anvil shoot. a drilled hole in the swage
with a steel rod hitting it up while upside down over
a metal pail.
