My wife and I are planning on making a zinc countertop for our kitchen 
when we remodel.  Being a metalsmith she wanted something metal, but 
stainless is too "cold", so that marketing pitch has appeal to her!  
We're still discussing copper versus zinc, but I guess zinc has 
anti-bacterial properties that are actually good for a kitchen counter.
