Thanks to Dave for ringing in support of the thread. I was just thinking
its getting somewhere. And I am really grateful for the depth and range of
the interest, response, information, analysis and brainstorming on this. In
the process, I ran across some information that indicates to me that this
particular stake is REALLY worth saving. I have come across exactly ONE
other stake anvil similar in size and construction. Check out
http://www.iforgeiron.com/forum/f7/gigantic-stake-anvil-3891/ . The stake I
have is very similar, in sizeand construction to that one. About 30" h x
24" l x 3 1/2" w at the face, and 100 lbs or so. Apparently piled/welded
wrought iron. Turns out this thing could be 250 to 350years old. And yes,
I will get some pics posted ASAP.
