[TheForge] Blower possibilities

Thanks ljudes. I'm aware of the issues :-) Either burning out the motor due to lack of airflow through the motor at reduced speeds, or burning out the dimmer from the large inductive load. At the time it was all I had, and it lasted the three months I used it for. I'd love a manual blower (this is a hobby, and it appeals to me), but I'll probably be moving to a gas forge next, as my forge is moving from an industrial area to a residential one, and the noise and fumes might get noticed more.

If I stick with the coke forge then I think the quieter inline fans with a baffle/diverter sealed in a soundproof box might be the way to go.

 Thanks for the warning.

  Graham

I've currently got two vacuum cleaner fans and run one of them off a light dimmer,

Slightly off topic, but if you are running a fan on a light dimmer you are risking burning up the fan motor. Part of my job is installing ceiling fans and this is a common problem.
