[TheForge] beards and masks

Aw shucks guys. <shuffle shuffle>

What I'm building isn't a dust and fume cleaning
system, all it does is exhaust it out of the building.
Still, $600 isn't too bad for a system that'll clean
dust, fumes and smoke out of the air. I wonder what
filters cost and how long they last.

The way I look at it the best way to not have a shop
full of smoke is to get rid of it as soon after it's
made as possible. Right under the table seems the best
to me. Sure an exhaust hose laid next to the work gets
it too but you're always tripping over the hose,
repositioning it, etc.

Another factor is heat. It's been hanging in the -5
to -12f range for better than a week. If the shop were
up and running and I filled it with smoke a "normal"
under the peak exhaust fan would have to change the
total volume of air out two or three times to get most
of the smoke. If I can keep the smoke out of the air in
the first place I can keep all the warm air in the
shop.

Then there's the lesser factor of where the warm shop
air/smoke is going before it exits the shop. It's
sucked down below the floor slab and circulated around
at least part of the perimeter before hitting the
blower and exiting. This will help keep the temp of the
slab up in the winter and warm feet are a good thing.

Anyway, if all you do is exhaust it out of the shop you
should be able to build what I have in mind for a
couple hundred bucks.
