A most excellent response, Frosty, and much appreciated.
I requested info re downdraft welding tables from one of the on line
suppliers and the sales rep called me. (I assume he is probably a marketing rep)
After finding out I was a small, one person shop he suggested what I had been
looking at would be over $3000.

(http://www.mist-dust-collection.com/fume-extraction/high-temperature-grinding.htm) . I confirmed that was
inappropriate. He was kind enought to call and then e-mailed the following response.

"This is the least expensive system you can get into that will still be
effective for your needs. Designed for intermittent use it is designed to trap
smoke and fumes and has a replaceable HEPA filter which is the easiest way to
trap smoke indoors. This unit goes for $595 and comes work ready. As I
explained- I would set up a metal table if you dont already have one perhaps 1 x 3
grating or perforated deck with a water pan on the underside-This will
extinguish any sparks and the collector will take away the smoke.
