Pee on it.  I'm not kidding.  There is a tradition among European roofers of 
keeping a bucket of urine handy when completing a copper roof,  Gets brushed 
on as a final finish.

btw; i had to comment on killing varmints. The
concrete floor of my tortoise room, heated with
electricity, and home to 18 tropical tortoises sank an
inch below the wall in one quarter.  Suddenly i was
home to voles and mice besides inflated heating bills
from an unrecognized breeze.the tortoises are on
platforms in galvanized cattle tubs Fiberglass and
warfarin to the rescue. May they  all bleed in peace.

btw: its not only WV without cell service. I need to
walk 1/2 mile uphill for service. Tracfone works for
me too
