[TheForge] spinning needle

At one of our events I had a friend teach me how to spin. When we got home
she loaned me her wheel to practice on. She was just using a bent wire to
thread her wheel, so I made her a nice fancy hook to use. It really
thrilled her and she was going to show it off at their next fiber guild
meeting. I kind of expected to get orders for more hooks, but nothing ever
came of it.
I have plans to make a wheel with all traditional jointery, but it never
seems to get to the top of my todo list.

The "needle" is called a fetch hook or an orifice hook by spinners, my
wife spins, you can make fancy ones out of 1/4 round or sq, stock if
you don't mind taking two or three minutes. they look kind of like a J
on the end , just has to be small so as to fit through the hole in the
spindle and be able to catch the wool easily.
