tell the kids about quenching and how to make a taper, maybe even let them pound out a little piece of 3/8 round the split it to make a fork. Or talking about blades, to make a small knife just take the bigest rail road spike you can find a pound it down to 1/2cm the grind the rest then throw it in the fire to heat it, quench and the smoke it to give it that just finished outa-the-forge look.
