[TheForge] lawnmower blades

Surgical steel: My wife worked in surgery and brought me the old blades.
They don't rust so they must contain chromium & nickel. I made a splitting
chisel out of a mild steel bar at a demo last week and super quenched it. It
worked well enough to split a bar to drift for a tomahawk. I guess it would
be called a mild steel tool. (-:/> Ron C

A tool made out of mild steel is called, more or less, disposable. :))
That is not to say it should not be done -- lots of folks make
short-term tools on an as-needed basis;
it is easier to bang out a quick tool from cheap stock, sometimes!

PS - I dunno about surgical exactly, but I thought it was a high grade
of stainless...
