Jerry,  Where do you live?  Outside temperature is a factor, as is how much 
insulation etc. you might have.  Key is to size right.  Over size and you 
will pay more and be "off" most of the time, undersize and you can't keep 
warm or it takes a long time to come up to temperature.

Where I live we have 2 cooling months per year (use AC) and 5 heating months 
per year the other 5 months requiring little cooling or heating.  Result is 
put in the best you can in heating and save a little on cooling.
