Isn't the 1/2" plate welded to a piece of 6" steel?

1/2" plate is the thickest welds that I will have. Not going to buy a
stick welder just for this. Will do multiple passes I guess....But the
gas addition was needed I know that and have been meaning to do it, just
didn't have the need like I do now. Just a matter of getting aquainted
with the new set up...

half inch plate?? multiple pass with a gas mixed with a smaill about of
oxygen so you can spray it on ....OR stick weld it
