[TheForge] Demo tents

I demo in a 10' X 10' canvas A-frame tent. Raise one side to make a covered shelter; close it down at night to protect equipment. I've never had any problem with the fire getting anywhere close to the tent (which might be 6' above the fire). Using coke helps to keep the neighboring vendors happy. Try to stay down wind from the clothing vendors.

Rich,

I do my demos under a 12' x 12' fly (no sides). If the sun is at a bad
angle or rain is blowing I have a couple half shell sections that I can clip
on to add protection.

I've been diong it for 8 years and the flame has never gotten close to the
fly which has an 8' high center poll.

I keep all the misc. tools in a special box just for demonstrations. That
way I don't have to remember which tools to grab from my shop each time.
Just my hammer and a couple pair of tongs. I plan on making duplicate tongs
for the box too, but haven't gotten it done.

Hi,

I am due to do some demos at a festival this summer. I shall be put in my
own little tent (marquee).

I was thinking of taking an anvil, coke forge and some hand tools - no
welder, and probably no grinders either. The organisers have asked me what
size tent I want - what shall I tell them? Will my simple bottom draught
forge be ok running in a tent?

I know some of you have lots of experience of doing outdoor demos and I'd
like to tap into that if possible.

Thanks,

Rich M.
