[TheForge] strange blower

I have uploaded 2 pictures in the "what to do with a blower" album of the photo site, of a strange blower that was given to me. there are no makers name or dates of any kind. it works pretty good and the handle spins for 2 or 3 turns after you let go. there is no place to oil the gears like in the champion blowers. 

In picture b2 you see a tube going to the back of the blower, the tube is tapered a bit to attach something to it. what did this connect to and what for?

what brand could this be?   
  
would I get better air flow by opening up more of the intake?
