Subject: [TheForge] pure iron wire?
Been frustrated trying to forge torch welded parts and sheet.
The available rods have alloying elements designed to work as
deposited...not forged, reheated, rewelded, hammered cold and hot
and so on.
So i thought...would pure iron welding rod work?
If so, where can i get some?
AK steel no longer lists it apparently....pete f

Pete,
I use baling wire when welding sheet metal. It forges ok hot.
If you aren't in a farm area, I think that mechanic's tieing wire is the
same stuff.
