Frosty,
Thanks for your reply; it's about what I figured. I've had an Allstates rig
for about 5 years or so, I never even tried the welding tip: that's what God
made Tig for in my estimation. I still have my oxy/act. Victor rig and an old
Crapsman from yrs. ago. I tried to trade in my acetylene bottle on
another oxy bottle when I first got the Allstates, based on their salesman's
advise that you could weld with it, but the welding gas company luckily
wouldn't trade.
Since I got my Mig, I haven't even used my stick machine for much
except biggie, gross, rusty kind of things. The only thing I don't like about
the Allstates is the almost total lack of instructions for using it. Most of the
little pamphlet that comes with it is a justification of why their torch is so
great. I still have trouble getting the cutting torch adjusted just right, but
when you do, you really can walk the dog, and the "on/off" switch means
you don't have to fiddle with anything for the rest of that session.
Thanks again for your comments. I guess that overall I'm happy with
mine, but probably would not spend that much money again.
Heat index well over a hundred on the southern coast of SC.
Dave
