[TheForge] where do I get?

Oh yeah. If you use fluorspar aka fluorite, you really
should take precuations the stuff likes to sap the
calcium from your system. I don't believe an overdose
of fluorine compounds can be treated effectively.
Fluorite may not be as toxic seeing as it's calcium
fluoride but I don't know. Heck I don't know if it'll
absorb through skin but I'd find out before using it.

I use a 4:1 ratio of Borax and Boric Acid but I don't
mess with welding SS so I don't need the really
agressive fluxes. I stay out of the fumes when I use it
regardless.

Isn't fluorspar, the flux used for forge welding ss
also toxic?

The OSHA man would have had a fit if he looked at the
stuff we did in
construction, ie, fumes, sparks, noise, asbestos,
fiberglass, glue, carbon
tetrachloride, sulfur, acid, lead, copper sulfate, lead
based paint, etc.
Much of it is common sense - They thought I was crazy
insisting on eye & ear
protection when using a 32 caliber Ram Set gun in cured
concrete, and fans
when welding galvanized beams, but the boss dared not
refuse my work order
for safety equipment.
