Harry:
Welltrol or other brand pressure tanks are a good
choice if you can get them free. You don't have to
worry about former contents except possible corrosion
and concrete hard lime deposits. People don't replace
them for no reason you know. <grin>
If you have to spend anything on them price SS stove
pipe and compare. You can find it in most common
diameters and it's easy to make specialty diameters by
connecting adding different sizes. For instance if you
want an 18" shell put 12" and 6" sections together. Or
two 8" sections to make up your 16" dia.
Anyway, there are lots of good alternatives available
some a lot worse than a well pressure tank.
