Just wondering: Why would you want to use 1/2 inch plate for the table? It
shouldn't experience any significant heating and would be heavy as all Hell
to move around.
I can agree with wanting to do it only once, but that seems like major
overkill. :)
1/4-inch should be plenty strong enough for a forge table unless you're
planning to use it as an anvil too. :)
Hell, seems to me 1/8-inch is plenty if you weld a couple of 1-1/4 X 1-1/4 X
1/8 angles under it for stiffeners. Something like bedframe angle would
work.
You're just going to be holding up some coal and maybe a few pairs of tongs,
no?
