Yes. My brother has a commercial unit that works like that. His also
raises up the top of the camper shell in the back.
There are companies out there that sell remote control kits that have
relay contact outputs that may be wired to control larger relays to make
remote control a simple thing. If you want to know where the companies
are, holler and I'll dig through my information. They are relatively
inexpensive. The one that the brother has is on a cable and it is
necessary to open the door and remove the control from the Velcro behind
the driver's head.
All the Best

~>Terry, this probably won't be of much help, but my Dad has
~>his pickup truck rigged with one of the little hoist units
~>good for 200 lbs. All he has to do is to operate the hand
~>control to lift it and so on. The hand control even has
~>switches that will raise and lower the chair, move the chair
~>in and out of the vehicle. Now his chair is electric, so the
~>hoist really gets put to use.
~>He got his by checking the San Antonio Express and News.
~>After a few weeks, there it was. He went and checked it out
~>and bought it. I don't know what he paid for it, but it was
~>much much lower than retail.
~>Later on, he found another one, and as luck would have it, he
~>ended up with the 2nd one also. I think he had ideas of
~>putting the 2nd one in my Jeep Cherokee, but that didn't
~>happen. So, there's this second hoist at the
~>shop, and I don't know if he has plans for it now or not.
~>If you'd like ,
~>I'll check with him on the second one and get back to you.
~>Seems like $600 - $800 is what he paid, but I might be way
~>off base here.
